Voces 8
First achieving success in 2005 at the 44th International Choral Grand Prix in Gorizia, Italy, Voces8 won first prize for best jazz performance and the audience vote for best performance. Since achieving initial success Voces8 has been performing widely in the UK and throughout Europe. Recent highlights include appearances on Austrian and Belgian national television, a concert at Wartburg Castle for Deutschlandradio Kultur and a guest appearance for the International Federation of Choral Music in Belgium. In the UK, the group made its much anticipated Wigmore Hall debut in September 2007 alongside Joan Rodgers and has recently performed a lunchtime recital at Fairfield Halls.
This year's concerts include an invitation to perform at the 60th Anniversary Concert of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights at St John's Smith Square; involvement in the 'Sing London' celebrations at the Museum of London, and performances at Fairfield Halls, the City of London Festival and at the Royal Festival Hall with The Philharmonia.
The group has a number of CD releases including 'From Gibbons to Gershwin', 'Snowed In' and has recorded a new album of unique arrangements of pop and jazz favourites, which is due to be released in 2008.
Voces8 plays a key role in the education work of Voces Cantabiles Music. 2008 will see the group leading innovative workshops as part of larger projects in schools throughout the UK. The group is ensemble in residence at Our Lady's Convent School, Loughborough.
Voces8's education work extends to workshops, master-classes and projects with people of all ages and abilities with the aim of inspiring creativity through music. The group is developing relationships with international organisations such as IFCM, the Jubilate foundation, the Slovenian Choral Organisation, Coral Baranain and the University of Navarra Music Faculty.
